NO LONG AVAILABLE: The Copper and the Madam (Blind Cupid Series #3) @KarynGerrard #revisions #Historical

And the books that are reverting to me (as per terms of contracts) are coming fast and furious!

Now it is The Copper and the Madam's turn. Originally published in Dec 2013, I will be honest and say I wasn't exactly happy with the edit, as in cutting out sections. Now that I am revising and will be self-publishing, I can slip some of these deleted passages back into the story.

New cover has been ordered, Cora Graphics, who did the covers for the first two books in this series, will be doing this one.

I will be dialing back the heat just a notch, and adding some words, so this will go from about 35,000 words to close to 40,000.

This will leave only one book with Decadent Publishing. That one has a five year contract, and three years to go.

I will say Decadent has always been professional, the reverting has gone smoothly, and they always paid on time. Can't really say that about too many digital publishers lately.

In the meantime, Book 1 and 2 are available at E-Retailers.

Look for The Copper and the Madam coming sometime in early 2017.

THE GOVERNESS AND THE BEAST (Blind Cupid Series #2)

Blurb: With a new name and an eagerness to begin a new life, Lila Jenner answers an ad for a governess and embarks on an adventure she did not expect. Hiding secrets and a past she longs to forget, she is disappointed to find out she has been employed to be a companion of a different sort: To a man who embodies both beauty and the beast.

In a gothic, crumbling manor on the edge of a North Sea cliff, Baron Simon Wolstenholme is cloistered away from society. Horribly scarred from battle wounds, the baron lives up to his infamous title “The Beast of Stonecliff” in appearance and attitude and comes to the realization he’s been alone too long.

Simon bargains with Lila for a singular night of passion. A storm rages outside, but it cannot compare to the clash of emotions between a lonely man and a distrustful woman. Secret desires are revealed, hearts are laid bare. Many obstacles lay before them until they can admit their true feelings, though pride could destroy the fairy tale before it begins.

BOOK #1 The Blind Cupid Series NOW AVAILABLE 99 cents!

THE SPINSTER AND MR. GLOVER (Blind Cupid Series #1)
By Karyn Gerrard
KG Publishing
Approx 15,000 words Short Story/Historical/Victorian

BLURB: His male beauty moved her. His vulnerability touched her. His past horrified her...

Anne Sommer, a spinster firmly on the shelf, does the unthinkable. She hires a man from the Blind Cupid brothel for a night of scandalous pleasure. Anne wants the sensual memories to keep her company in the lonely years ahead. However, she did not expect the young man to move her in ways she never imagined.

Desmond Glover gives sexual gratification—for a price. An orphan whose childhood was mired in scandal and poverty, Desmond has learned to close off his emotions with regard to his occupation. He did not count on a lonely spinster to awaken his hidden passion.

Not only do the years separate them, but so do their social standing. Can Anne and Desmond cross such a chasm and find mutual desire—or love?

NO LONGER AVAILABLE: Heart of Rock by @KarynGerrard But Out of the Ashes, A Change in Direction #Publishing

I got the rights back to Heart of Rock from Decadent Publishing. This book was a real heart breaker. It was like something I've never written before, the hero was hard to take, but it did get very good reviews the few it got, but also didn't sell much.

It's first incarnation was in 2012 with the now defunct Silver Publishing. Remember them? What a nightmare. I got the rights back to that and one other book with Silver before it imploded. Never did get the rest of my royalties owed, but it wasn't much anyway. The publisher I was with at the time, Decadent, contracted it in 2013. It went through a meat grinder of an edit, so much so I wondered if I would even continue on with writing. But that's how we learn, eh?

Flash forward to 2016, and the contract is up and rights have been reverted. So what do I do with it?

Well, it's not keeping it's 1970's setting, which is kind of a shame. I had fun revisiting the decade I grew up in.

So, do I throw it on the back burner to collect cobwebs?

Tempting, but then I thought, since the hero's last name is Byrne, and so is my hero from His Wicked Celtic Kiss, why not make them brothers? So Heart of Rock will be stripped down to the bare skeleton, it will no longer be an erotic romance, and eventually, I will make this story part of my Wicked Men of Rockland Series.

A lot hinges on whether I will be getting the rights back to The Wicked Bad from Crimson Romance. I try again in September. If I do get it, The Wicked Bad will be revised first, again, no longer erotic, more mainstream and completely revised (oh boy, does it need it)

I am assuming all this will not happen until later 2017 and beyond. The good news? I have book 3 already written in the Wicked Men of Rockland Series, so yes, the series will continue. I plan a book 4 to conclude it.

Not all books sell. In fact, most don't. But it is gratifying to get a book back and be able to move ahead with a complete "do-over".

More to come~

The Blind Cupid No Longer Available, The Spinster and Mr. Glover #ComingSoon @KarynGerrard #Historical

THE BLIND CUPID ~Historical/BDSM/Cougar  Short story for THE EDGE line

Decadent Publishing  release December 14 2012    APPROX 6967 words

This short story for Decadent's Publishing The Edge line, has been reverted to me as per the contract I signed with this publisher. As of Oct 2014, I no longer submit to this publisher.

As of this writing, I checked and it seems to be down everywhere but Barnes and Noble, but I know that vendor takes a while.

This short story spawned the series 'The Blind Cupid" with The Governess and the Beast and The Copper and the Madam as books 2 and 3.

This hot erotic story (needed for The Edge line) has been toned down (heat wise), expanded, revised, and doubled in size and is now around 15,000 words. It is still a short story, so that means the romance progresses quickly. I've been working on it for months, and it will now be released as THE SPINSTER AND MR.GLOVER. Cover art done by Cora Graphics.

A few changes, my hero, Desmond, now has blond hair, I will change it in the other books when I get the rights back next year.

I submitted it for pre-order, the release date will be December 7th on Amazon with other vendors following whenever they upload.

Here is the BlurbHis male beauty moved her.

This short story was previously published with a different title. Revised, re-edited, and more than 7500 words added. Heat Level: Very sensual

This is book one of the Blind Cupid series. Book two is The Governess and the Beast. Book three is The Copper and the Madam.

NOTE: You will see listings at Amazon for second-hand print copies of the Blind Cupid Collection, (anthology) This is why I am not a fan of POD (Print on Demand) even when you get the rights back, a print copy is always out there somewhere *sigh*

COVER REVEAL: The Spinster and Mr. Glover by @KarynGerrard #Historical #ComingSoon #BlindCupidSeries

THE SPINSTER AND MR. GLOVER
Historical/Victorian/Short Story
KG Publishing
14,995 words
Release date: December 2015

Blurb: Anne Sommer, a spinster firmly on the shelf, does the unthinkable. She hires a man from the Blind Cupid brothel for a night of scandalous pleasure. Anne wants the sensual memories to keep her company in the lonely years ahead. However, she did not expect the young man who showed up at her door to move her in ways she never imagined.

Desmond Glover gives sexual gratification—for a price. An orphan whose childhood was mired in scandal and poverty, Desmond has learned to close off his emotions with regard to his occupation. He did not count on a lonely spinster to awaken his hidden passion.

Not only do the years separate them, but so do their social standings. Can Anne and Desmond cross such a chasm and find mutual desire---or love?

This was previously published with a different title. Revised, re-edited, and more than 7000 words added.

Book one of the Blind Cupid series. Book two is The Governess and the Beast. Book three is The Copper and the Madam.

Cover art by Cora Graphics

Here's the dirt. The Blind Cupid was a short story for Decadent Publishing's The Edge line, where the story had to be hot and no more than 7000 words. It was released December 2012. Just want to thank Decadent Publishing for responding to rights reversal requests in a positive and professional manner.

I will be re-releasing The Blind Cupid as THE SPINSTER AND MR. GLOVER and the story is now 14,000+ words. I also dialled back the heat a notch or two (or three!) as the story for The Edge line had to be erotica. I also expanded the plot and characters.

I know I have written more than a few stories about a couple caught in strange circumstances and falling in love during a short period of time, but the situation fascinates me. Two unlikely people, alone, emotions are intense, desire even more so. Yes, they fall in love quickly, but isn't a lot of romance based in fantasy? Besides, though rare, people in real life can fall in love at first sight, so why not my hero and heroine? :)

The Spinster and Mr. Glover will be released by my own KG Publishing and since it is book one of The Blind Cupid series, it will be released to all relevant vendors since book 2 and 3 are still out there. I will be charging 99 cents. (For 14,000 words, more than reasonable)

I am able to get back the rights to The Governess and the Beast (book 2) next spring. Book 3 The Copper and the Madam next fall. I am actually enjoying revisiting these old stories. Like visiting an old, dear friend.

I will have a more firm release date soon.

Welcome to KG Publishing coming in 2015! #SelfPub #Hybrid @KarynGerrard #NewDirection

Its been building for a long time as I've become increasingly frustrated in my publishing life, so after much internal debate, I've decided that going forward, most or all short stories and novellas will be self-published under my own banner. (I'll get a better one, later)

I have a few completed manuscripts (historical novellas) so will pub them myself.  In light of this, I am no longer with Evernight Pub or Decadent Pub or Ellora's Cave. While I am grateful for the contracts, especially from Evernight, as they offered me my very first one, this is a decision I make for me.

But since I rarely write anything short anymore anyway, this self-pub thing will be secondary, and used mostly for books I get the rights back on. In 2015, I will be eligible to receive back a few books, and after re-writes and edits, I will re-release them at very reasonable prices.(50% of what the publisher charged)

Anything new (over 40,000 words) will go to the couple of publishers I still have ties to. (Crimson Romance and Kensington Publishing) and maybe I will find one other.

This is a complete 180 from where I was even eighteen months ago, and I'm not going to go into the myriad reasons behind it. Some are personal. I'm not a person who needs to have my hands on all the control switches, I was happy to hand that over to publishers. But things have changed so much in the publishing world at large and for me personally, I feel I should have control of the pricing, and to a lesser extent, the editing, just to name two reasons. Believe me, there are more.

If someone like me, who really had no interest or desire to self-publish and is now considering doing it in whatever capacity, it really should give publishers pause. There are many more like me who will go hybrid, or cut the ties and go full-indie. Publishers, things are changing.

I am taking my time. Also will not be setting any firm publications dates for any self-pubbed releases. It happens when it happens. I have no interest in self pubbing print books.

But look for The Baron and the Mistress in early 2015 sometime (historical, 28,000 words) Cover art already ordered!

So, going forward, I am a hybrid romance author. Cool.

Cheers~

Excerpt from The Governess and the Beast:

“Do you have courage, Miss Jennings?”

The question confused her for a moment. “I suppose as much as the next person....”

Baron Stonecliff reached behind his head, untied the knot, and unwound the scarf until he exposed his face. Utter ruin. She fought back the gasp of shock but could not prevent her physical recoil and stepped back. Mottled, puckered skin and a maze of nasty wounds, some of them burns, covered the left side. Scars crisscrossed his cheek and disappeared into his hairline. How miraculous his lips and jaw remained intact. What made the destruction harder to bear was the breathtaking masculine beauty still visible on the right. Lord Stonecliff must have been devastatingly handsome at one point. She kept her gaze steady, and she hoped, her emotions well buried. With swelling evident, she surmised his injury must have occurred in the last several months. The skin was red and raw. Would it be it sore to the touch? The scarring continued down his neck and disappeared under his collar. So, not only his face received injury.

“Have you looked your fill?” Stonecliff snapped in annoyance. “You must be able to gaze upon the horror that is my face. When I am in my own home, I do not cover it. The doctors recommended leaving my visage free to breathe in order to aid healing. Since am I told it is not as red as before, I suppose their theory has merit....”

He frowned and shrugged with slight indifference. The words were probably the most he had spoken to anyone in some time, and no doubt more than he wanted to share.

Hortense swallowed and took a step toward him. “Regardless, you are free to do as you wish in your own home. Since I did not run screaming from the room, there should be no difficulty.”

Did one corner of those full, sensuous lips quirk into an almost-smile? Oh, Lord, why was she thinking of his lips?

He bade her to sit again and took the chair opposite. Stonecliff crossed his long legs and regarded her closely.

“What I am about to say may well have you scream and run from the room. I did not bring you here to be governess to my ward. In truth, he is eleven years old and away at school. I lied. I brought you here to be—my companion.”

The Governess and the Beast is Top 5 Bestseller for the Entire All Romance Site~

How cool is this? Yes, it was due mostly to a free giveaway, but because it got the exposure, it sold a nice tidy bunch of copies, enough to shoot up the charts of All Romance's top 50 list. I expect it to drop right off the list in a matter of hours or a day or two, but this is satisfying regardless.

The book will have been released one year next month, and it surprisingly has legs. I am pleased.

"Ms. Gerrard created a wonderful “retelling” of Beauty and the Beast with this one. She mixed in a bit of secrets to the story and produced a novella that was filled with steamy passion, incredible lust, and a yearning for more than just a one night stand."

RELEASE DAY! The Copper and the Madam Book #3 Blind Cupid Series #historical

THE COPPER AND THE MADAM
Decadent Publishing
Historical/Rebenesque/Suspense/Erotic

Approx 34,000 words

BLURB:

In 1897 London, Scotland Yard Detective Sergeant Rory Kerrigan never expected to find love among the crime-ridden streets he vowed to protect. Kerrigan, a man with a wretched past and hardened heart, keeps emotion from his life and its interference with his police work.

Abbess Rea is owner of the brothel, The Blind Cupid, and a woman with a secret and desolate past of her own. Rubenesque and leery of men, Rea lets no one close. Yet, she cannot deny the ruggedly handsome Rory touches her heart.

A grisly murder on Kerrigan’s turf has Rory and Rea teaming up to bring the killer to justice. As danger lurks closer, secrets are revealed and passion is ignited. Will the copper and the madam acknowledge their mutual yearning even at the peril of their lives?

EXCERPT:

“Did you enjoy the show, darlin’?”

Rory stepped out of the shadows, the uneven illumination making it impossible to tell his mood. His voice was neither teasing nor angry but flat and devoid of emotion. What a surprise to discover this dispassionate side of Rory.

Furious rage overcame her embarrassment. “You have been out here the whole time? Who told you? By God, when I find out who it is, I will toss them out into the street—”

“Easy, Rhiannon. You forget, I’m a detective. I can observe a place for hours. Standing in this hall was no time at all to me. Besides, no one had to tell me anything. Well, that’s not quite true. Someone informed me ages ago you like to watch. So I began to wonder. It did not take long to find your hidden door. How long and why?” Annoyance deepened his voice.

Caught good and proper. What should she tell him—that the only way she could feel anything at all was to observe others having sex? And that watching him gave her the greatest pleasure she had ever experienced? She shook her head. “It is my private business.”

She turned to stomp away, but Rory reached out and clasped her arm. “Not so fast, Rhiannon. What you invaded was my private business. How. Long?” Barely banked fury colored his tone.

“Three years. Let me go.”

Rory pulled her against him. He clutched her arm tighter and she winced.

“Now, you will tell me why.”

Hot tears blurred her vision. “Fine. Maybe it’s the only enjoyment a fat, lonely whoremonger can acquire.”

Rory clasped both her arms and glared down at her. His eyes danced with emerald fire.

“Do not call yourself fat, not in my hearing. I know portly when I see it, and you’re not it, darlin’. You have ample curves, aye. Fat is rolls, waddling when you walk, and ten steps have you breathing hard. That is fat.” He trailed his hands down her arms and rested them at her sides. After a few moments pause, they moved over her hips up to her waist. A groan tore from his lips. “Curves, Rhiannon. Luscious, succulent curves. Breasts a man could happily get lost in. Don’t get me started on your arse.”

Well. Heat lingered across her body where his hands roamed. Rory stopped below her breasts, his thumbs brushing the undersides. He caught her earlobe between his teeth then his tongue whorled her ear. A lustful shudder quaked her all over.

“Next time you want to watch me, sit in a chair in the room with me. Don’t hide in a broom cupboard with holes drilled into the walls, you follow?”

RELEASE DATE for The Copper and the Madam Coming Dec 10th!

Just reading through the Galley now, Release date of Dec10th. This is the third and final book in the Blind Cupid trilogy and is a little different from the other two. The novella is a little longer and is a suspense. But we also check in on the H/H from The Blind Cupid and The Governess and the Beast to see what is up with them. I had no intention of writing a trilogy when I wrote the short story THE BLIND CUPID, but what can I say?

Historical/Subenesque/Suspence/Erotic Romance

BLURB:  (unofficial)

In 1897 London, Scotland Yard Detective Sergeant Rory Kerrigan never expected to find love among the crime-ridden streets he vowed to protect. Kerrigan, a man with a wretched past and hardened heart, keeps emotion from his life and its interference with his police work.

COMING NOV 19th! ROCK THE WOLFE #contemporary #Rebenesque #eroticromance from Decadent Pub!

Edits are done and I have a release date! NOV 19th. This is a short story of about 17,000 words.

Unofficial blurb:

Close to the breaking point after a difficult year in the classroom, elementary teacher Kerri Coleson is looking forward to the summer to regroup and refresh. Staying alone at the old family homestead, she meets a man who may be as burnt out as she is.

Rock star Wolfe Phalen’s world has unraveled, culminating in the bust-up of his group and the dissolution of his marriage. Even though he laments the loss of his guys more, the last thing he is looking for is an entanglement with another woman. Though Wolfe is intrigued by Kerri’s lush curves, nurturing personality, and sensual response to his touch, his denial of what exists between them seems the only option.

Could she be the woman he’s been hoping to find? Could this be the love he has yearned for and written songs about? Kerri may rock Wolfe’s world, but will she rock his heart and soul?

I am pretty sure this will be my last rock star hero, I think I got it out of my system! LOL!

Cheers!

The Governess and the Beast an All Romance Top 50 Best-Seller!

Woke up this morning with emails from All Romance and Decadent Publishing informing me THE GOVERNESS AND THE BEAST is on the Top 50 best-seller list for the whole site!

To say I was shocked is an understatement. I think it helped I had the word 'beast' in the title! Regardless, this is a first for me, and I am pleased.

Nice to know Historical is not dead, regardless of reports. My book is gothic at its tone, emotional at its core, with a dash of kink to heat it up. Thank you to everyone who bought it and hope you enjoy my erotic romance.

Even if this slips off the list tomorrow, I will savor this accomplishment. My thanks to Decadent and to my editor, Kate Richards,

Cheers!

Best-Seller! The Governess and the Beast and The Blind Cupid!

I had to share. When you have two books in the top 5 of a category, yeah, its a thrill.  This is at All Romance. The Blind Cupid already was a best-seller in this category, how great to see it back again!  I will enjoy this while it lasts~ :)

This is my Blind Cupid series with Decadent Publishing. My Victorian era historical. When I submitted The Blind Cupid (short story) for Decadent's The Edge line, I never dreamed it would spawn more stories.

The Governess and the Beast is Book 2 and I have just submitted the third and final book of this series. Fingers crossed.
