NEW RELEASE! Sale! #99Cents My Wicked Soul (It's Never too Late for Love Anthology Series) by @KarynGerrard #olderhero #rockstar

My Wicked Soul (It's Never too Late for Love Anthology Series)

Contemporary Romance/novella

by Karyn Gerrard

From the author:  Sections of this story were previously published in 2013. I made a LOT of changes, expanded, revised and most of this is all new material. All the stories in this anthology series are standalone and short novellas.

Close to the breaking point after a difficult year in the classroom, elementary teacher Jessica Coleson is looking forward to summer vacation. While staying at the old family homestead, she meets an intriguing man who may be as burnt out as she is. Factor in his rough-hewn good looks, she finds him hard to resist.

Just turned forty and weary beyond words, rock star Mercury Phalen’s world has unraveled, culminating in the bust-up of his group and the dissolution of his marriage. Even though he laments the loss of his guys more, he’s not looking for an entanglement with another woman.

Though Mercury is attracted by Jessi’s nurturing personality and sensual response to his touch, denying what exists between them is a wise choice—especially considering the baggage he’s dragging behind him. Yet he wonders: could this be the love he has yearned for and written songs about all these years?

THAT CHRISTMAS FEELING
KG Publishing
Contemporary Romance/Holiday

Though Connall Doyle achieved many of his professional goals, model, sometimes actor, along with a modicum of financial security, his life of late has been empty. Christmas this year does not hold any appeal. But when offered the chance to go on a sports and poker trip to a secluded wilderness camp, Connall jumps at the opportunity to escape the city and tragic holiday memories.

A spur-of-the-moment holiday excursion brings the devastatingly handsome Connall to Kerrie Kelleher’s doorstep during Christmas week. It is not only his stunning good looks that draw her but the sadness she sees in his eyes. Surrounded by all the holiday trappings and a searing hot attraction Connall cannot deny, he begins to wonder if 'that Christmas feeling' will be enough to heal a painful past and allow love to enter his heart.

NEWS: No Longer a Full-Time Writer, and it's all Good by @KarynGerrard #AmWriting #NewDirection

Burn out, baby...

I was first published in 2011. Now nine years later I have come full circle and am back to writing being a hobby.
Why? A lot of things happened to form a perfect storm starting with my editor leaving. But it started before that, and the incredible stress that I placed on myself. Being with a traditional publisher was not all that I thought it would be, nor was having an agent. Because there is such a 'cone of silence' over publishing in general, far be it for me to rip off that scab. But its an experience-been there, done that-sort of thing, and I'm done. I found deadlines too stressful.

When I fell seriously ill last summer, that was the straw-camel's back thing, I had to take stock. Now that I'm feeling at 80% and recovering still, what to do? First, Mr.G and I moved out of our small, northern, semi-insulated Canadian town and we are back home living close to family and civilization. The move, finding a house, and settling in is taking a lot of my time. In short, my life has changed and writing is not a top priority.

I achieved more than I thought possible, but when it came down to it, I wasn't enjoying it. I don't want to wind up like Bugs, breaking the same rocks over and over, feeling like I'm in a prison. I am off that merry-go-round--and relieved.

So what I am going to do going forward?

I've asked for the rights back to The Vicar's Frozen Heart, that way The Hornsby Brothers series will be in my control. The other 5 books with Kensington are staying put.

I am revising/expanding The Spinster and Mr. Glover.

I have an idea for a new historical series, reworking a couple of historicals that were returned to me a few years back, bringing The Baron and the Mistress into that world, and having a couple of new stories as well.

I will be working on revising The Wicked Men of Rockland City contemporary series. Book 1 is He's The Wicked Bad. Book 2 is His Wicked Celtic Kiss. Book 3 is written and all I need is write book 4.

I have a rock star novella. My Wicked Soul, that I am working on as well. See HERE for blurbs and covers.

All this will be when I get to it. No deadlines, no stress. No publishers or anything that ties to traditional publishing: I want to enjoy writing again.

All writers have their own path. I've changed mine. Change is good. I'm happy with the decisions I've made and am moving forward.  :)

Cheers

COVER REVEAL: My Wicked Soul by @KarynGerrard #OlderHero #RockStar #Contemporary #ComingSoon

Blurb for My Wicked Soul

Close to the breaking point after a difficult year in the classroom, elementary teacher Jessica Coleson is looking forward to summer vacation. While staying at the old family homestead, she meets an intriguing man who may be as burnt out as she is. Factor in his rough-hewn good looks, she finds him hard to resist.

Just turned forty and weary beyond words, rock star Mercury Phalen’s world has unraveled, culminating in the bust-up of his group and the dissolution of his marriage. Even though he laments the loss of his guys more, he’s not looking for an entanglement with another woman.

Though Mercury is attracted by Jessi’s nurturing personality and sensual response to his touch, denying what exists between them is the wise choice—especially considering the baggage he’s dragging behind him. Yet he wonders: could this be the love he has yearned for and written songs about all these years?

~~~~~COMING SOON!
This was an erotic romance with Decadent Publishing back in the day, (under a different title) and this revision-rewrite is nothing like the previous book. At all. Completely different. I'm toying with the idea of putting this in KU (I have nothing in there) since it is a short novella and a standalone story. I've aged the hero. Now 40 years of age. More mainstream which is how I've been writing since 2015, more so with each new book I release.
I am hoping to release this by the end of this year, we will see what happens. Lots going on in real life. Big changes coming. I find I am on social media less and less...and I prefer it. But I'm picking away at this, and having a blast revisiting this story. Stay tuned!
Karyn Gerrard, born and raised in the Maritime Provinces of Eastern Canada, now makes her home in a small town in Northwestern Ontario. When she’s not cheering on the Red Sox or travelling in the summer with her teacher husband, she writes, reads romance, and drinks copious amounts of Earl Grey tea.
 A multi-published author, she loves to write sensual historical and contemporaries. Tortured heroes are an absolute must. As long as she can avoid being hit by a runaway moose in her wilderness paradise she assumes everything is golden. Karyn’s been happily married for a long time to her own hero. His encouragement and loving support keeps her moving forward.
What I'm Working On: Hybrid Author Stuff and Rebranding by @KarynGerrard #SelfPublishing #Changes
One of my first jobs in the mid-eighties was as a Clerical Teacher-Aide at the school Mr. Gerrard taught at. I used an IBM Selectric II. God, I loved it. Even wanted to buy it from the school when we moved. I had interchangeable balls, *snort* I loved the sound of the keys clicking. Barely had to touch it and away it went, typing like a dream. I'd kill for a computer keyboard that worked the same way.
Besides aging myself, why am I tripping down memory lane? Because it's time, after 7 years published, to take stock. Assess goals. Since I spent all of last year writing to fulfill contracts, my indie/self-pubbed stuff suffered. I didn't promote them, never released anything except one re-issue. So I am stepping up my game on the other side of my hybrid writing.
I have uploaded new versions of The Spinster and Mr. Glover, The Governess and the Beast, and Timeless Heart. I have ordered a new cover for My Highlander Cover Model and giving that a new revision. I put both my time travels together as a series called: Heroes of Time Travel Anthology. Made the changes already at the vendors.
I've come to believe that since I have complete control of my indie books, I should keep them updated, not only concerning the front and back matter, but looking for any possible problems. My writing is constantly evolving, my voice should be consistent throughout. Hence the updates. I will be doing my contemporary Xmas story as well.
Also working on a short contemporary romance novella called My Wicked Soul. Here's a tip, never order a cover until you are absolutely sure what you are doing with a story or series. I bought this close to two years ago, thinking I would add it to a contemporary series I already had. Nope. Luckily, I have some photoshop skills and I was able to remove the series name under the title. Instead, I will be using this for a different standalone story. Also working on this. I am using parts from a story that has been returned to me.
So, what about the other side of my hybrid author stuff? You know, *Trad*.
I have no idea.
I have a couple of historicals to re-release and will do so at some point through my own publishing arm.
What about the Hornsby Brothers Series? (historical) Book 1 and 2 are with Kensington Publishing, and I am 2/3's of the way writing book 3. (I am able to release it myself) The cover for book 3 is bought, and the series is on hold for a while. But I will be finishing it, I promise. By the end of the year if all goes well.
We will see what happens. Meanwhile, in this downtime, I'm taking charge and cleaning up my backlist. I have one more book to ask for the rights back from Evernight Publishing, and pretty much all my earlier books (2011-2014) will be back in my hands.
In 2014, I shuddered at the thought of self-publishing. Since then, I have found my happy place. For now, at this particular place in time, hybrid author suits me right down to the ground.
Delay on Re-Releases for Several Books #SelfPublishing @KarynGerrard #TheGirlCantHelpit
Yikes. I got the rights back for this book Dec 2016, and I wanted to revise and re-release it in under six months under my KG Publishing. Not going to happen.
Obviously any contracted books I have with a publisher (Kensington) must come first. I have to pass in book 2 manuscript Sept 15th. Book 3 is due March 1 2018. I think it best I get these two books written and passed in before I turn my attention to any self-publishing releases.
As a result it has caused a real pile of rights reversed e-books on my back burner. My back list has shrunk by nearly half. But these books need work (in some cases A LOT of work) and I am not going to rush it. Click HERE to see a complete list of my books that are no longer available.
After the Copper and the Madam? I had hoped to revise Knight of Christmas (my one and only Ellora's Cave release) for Fall 2017. Again, not going to happen. I have pushed it to Fall 2018.
Though I did fix the cover so it is ready to go! EC said I could use the same cover if I removed their logo (gladly!) I added the Victorian Xmas street light. Not bad, eh? Yes, it is a historical, hence his cravat.
This is a sizzling erotic romance, and I will be dialling down the heat to sensual since I do not write erotic any longer. I want to expand it a bit as well.
Again, I refuse to rush it.
After that? I have one other cover art I bought, I was going to use it for my Wicked Men of Rockland series, but I have decided I will be revising and seeing if my agent can shop it around first.
(Note to self: do not buy cover art until revisions are done and you are completely sure of your plans)
So what to do with this cover I bought? First, I removed the 'Wicked Men of Rockland' logo under the title.
Now I can use this for a short novella. I received rights back to 'Rock the Wolfe' from Decadent last year.
It is around 17,000 words, a rock star contemporary and it needs revising, editing, and expansion. So this is the third self-pubbing release in the queue.
No idea on the release dates for any of this.
I refuse to stress myself out by spinning too many plates.
But stay tuned, as I plan to release them as soon as I can give them my full attention. :)
Thanks for your patience and understanding!
