2019 Writing Plans are Shaping up: What's Ahead: by @KarynGerrard #ContemporaryRomance #WickedMen

In 2013 and 2014, these two books were published with Crimson Romance. (Wicked Men of Rockland) I got the rights back in 2016 for The Wicked Bad, just before Crimson and (Adams Media) were bought by Simon and Schuster, who closed down the Crimson romance line in 2018. I got the rights back for book 2, His Wicked Celtic Kiss, in 2017. Since then, they have been sitting on my back burner.

NOTE: Some used print on demand copies or unsold trade paperback copies of these books are still out there.

For the past four years since HWCK was published, I turned to historical romance. I also no longer wrote erotic romance (which is what The Wicked Bad was, hence it being released in the spicy line)
The edit was horrible for book 1, much better for book 2, and I thought I would continue the series. I wrote book 3. Submitted it, then shortly thereafter, withdrew it. Historical romance was calling.

Now I've decided to turn to some indie projects for a while. I've already started to rip apart The Wicked Bad. The base core of the story remains, but it will change a lot. It will no longer be 'erotic' but sensual. I am also changing the title somewhat.

The titles of the four book series will be: (stories will be 55,000-70,000 words)

THE WICKED MEN OF ROCKLAND CITY

Book 1: He’s the Wicked Bad (change in previous title)
Book 2: His Wicked Celtic Kiss (no change in previous title)
Book 3: His Wicked Cold Heart (all new)
Book 4: He’s the Wicked Good (all new)

I am also not ruling out novellas about secondary characters.

A little about the series:  (unofficial summary, still tweaking it)

Nestled on Chesapeake Bay in Rockland City, Maryland, this small industrial city has witnessed the struggle for dominance by two families: the De Lucas and the Barnes’s. Their lives are inter-meshed for good or ill. Passions run high as do old and new resentments—and old and new loves.

The Barnes family represent law and order. The De Lucas the complete opposite and soon their various criminal enterprises overtake everyone’s lives with disastrous results. Once the smoke clears, will the Wicked Men of Rockland City open their hearts to love?

Obviously, Rockland City and the characters are fictional.

I found when writing my historical series for Kensington Publishing, Men of Wollstonecraft Hall, that I enjoyed doing a family saga type series with overlapping story lines. I realized that is exactly what The Men of Rockland City is. Can't wait to dive back in.
It's happening. Already looking into ordering cover art.

A lot on my plate. But, I am working at my own pace.
Still enjoy the writing, so onward! Stay tuned.

Cheers~

When she’s not cheering on the Red Sox or travelling in the summer with her teacher husband, she writes, reads romance, and drinks copious amounts of Earl Grey tea.

A multi-published author, she loves to write sensual historical and contemporaries. Tortured heroes are an absolute must. As long as she can avoid being hit by a runaway moose in her wilderness paradise she assumes everything is golden. Karyn’s been happily married for a long time to her own hero. His encouragement and loving support keeps her moving forward.
