News Updates, Hot Food, Hot Reads and Hot Guys! w/e June 27th @KarynGerrard #News

Hi all, I am rather discouraged with the whole newsletter concept. Mailchimp is a bitch to use. Even when you think the newsletter looks great by sending a test copy to yourself, you send it out and the writing all overlaps *headdesk* I don't have the time or inclination to figure it out.

So, instead, I am going to post updates on my website. There'a a strange concept!

First up, I just signed three contracts with Kensington Publishing Corp! Is this a big thing? Hell, yeah. To me, anyway. No, its not one of the 'Big 5' but it is a New York publisher of considerable standing. It's for three historicals to be released digitally. First up, The Vicar's Frozen Heart in March 2016. Next, Beloved Monster Sept 2016. Third, is the unwritten sequel to Beloved Monster for release in 2017. More details HERE. Beloved Monster and the sequel will be also available in Print on Demand (POD)

I have a new release, or re-release. TIMELESS HEART is available at Amazon. I thought for kicks I would put it in Kindle Unlimited for a 90 day trial. Two weeks later, Amazon announces sweeping changes for authors regarding the subscription program. Check it HERE. What does this mean for me? I have put any self-publishing releases on hold for a while until I see how this all shakes out, and also for personal reasons (Mr. Gerrard's health)

Being published is becoming rather depressing. E-book sales are soft, authors are being nickelled and dimed to death by publishers and vendors like Amazon. I predict smaller epubs are going to feel the pinch even more than before and so are authors of short stories. More to come!

Suffering from burnout, elementary school teacher Sandra Cranston is on leave and trying to eliminate stress from her life. That plan is blown when she discovers an abandoned carriage deep in the woods. Inside is a man, Jerrod Ross, who fuels all of her wicked Regency dreams and fantasies. Take him home? Sure, why not?
Jerrod Ross has been ripped from the only world he has ever known—1821 Cornwall, England. A mine owner with many responsibilities, all he wants to do is return to his time. But his growing attraction for the lovely lady who found him makes staying in the future a temptation he finds hard to resist.
Torn between duty and desire, past and future, the hardest thing Sandra and Jerrod will do is admit their feelings. Or say—goodbye.

I'm not a huge fan (meaning she's not an auto-buy) of Eloisa James, I've read a few in the past, but then I prefer my historicals a little darker. Not a fan of the light-hearted Regency romp. But I actually went to the library this week (what? you have 3 boxes of unread, second-hand romance paperback books in your closet and 300 unread free and 99 cents romances on your Kindle!) Yeah, but I wanted to read a few new releases.
So I checked out Four Nights with a Duke and the recent release from Tessa Dare, Say Yes to the Marquess.
I finished Four Nights, though the hero at times was a stubborn and arrogant ass, yes, he had his reasons, so you could empathize with him a bit. The book is very readable, keeps your interest even though the plot is a bit of an eye roller, the banter and emotion kept me hooked. A very good read. Recommend! As for Tessa Dare, I preferred her earlier releases, the Avon books, not so much. This is the first one of hers I read in a while and 1/3 of the way in, I am enjoying it. Love the hero.
Next up? Elizabeth Hoyt Dearest Rogue and Mary Balogh Only a Promise new releases just arrived from Amazon. Yes. Someday I will get to all the other unread books. Really! *wink*

Aidan Turner (born 19 June 1983) is an Irish actor. He is best known for his roles as Kili in the three-part The Hobbit and John Mitchell in the supernatural drama series Being Human. Notable television roles include those of Dante Gabriel Rossetti in Desperate Romantics. He also portrayed Luke Garroway in the film adaptation of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones in 2013. Turner also portrays Ross Poldark in the 2015 BBC adaptation of The Poldark Novels by Winston Graham.

Pictured here in Ross Poldark mode. I have seen the new series, and while my nostalgic heart still prefers the 1975 version of Poldark, this is a very close second, thanks to Aidan's brooding, sexy performance. Poldark is now showing in the States on PBS Masterpiece Theatre Sunday nights! Definitely recommend! And its been renewed for multiple seasons to span all the books!

Check my blog, E-Romance News for recent book spotlights and giveaways!

Until next time~Cheers~
