Crush of the Week~Tom Mison from Sleepy Hollow

I really had no plans to check out Sleepy Hollow. But when I caught a glimpse of the guy that would be playing Ichabod Crane, I admit he's the reason I watched.

The show itself? A mash-up of X-Files and Twin Peaks with a creepy, supernatural, witchy, time-travel twist. The first episode had to do a ton of exposition, and at times, they shoved so much out there you had to pay close attention to get the gist. Rolling Stone called it 'bat-shit crazy, but entertaining', I'd agree with that. Suspend your belief and go along for the ride.

The heroine was fine, but Tom Mison lit up the screen. Yes, we all know Ichabod Crane in the Washington Irving book was a homely, gangly beanpole.

Not in this series. Ichabod switched sides in the Revolutionary War, he's a professor, he can handle weapons, and...he's hot.

He also has a wife, caught in some dimension who visits him while he sleeps, so I take it there will be no romance between him and the lady cop. Fine by me.

Having a lost love makes Ichabod more appealing and romantic, good move, show creators.

So who is this Tom Mison?

He's 31, British, and primarily a stage actor and writer. I get the stage actor bit, his voice is classically trained and sexy and he has a real presence.

Recently he was in Parade's End with another sexy Brit, Benedict Cumberbatch.

In between his stage appearances, he guest starred in various TV roles on Brit telly. He's written plays, he drinks single malt whiskey and has a garden. He reads Vonnegut.

He is not a household name. He will be now. A lot of my romance writer buds are equally smitten.

Have you noticed just how many wonderful, talented, gorgeous and sexy Brits are on our TV and movie screens?

Its a British invasion, and I love it. I'm sorry, but Channing Tatum and Shia LeBeuf do nothing for me. In my opinion, there are no young American actors that can hold a candle to these guys.

Why? I think a lot has to do with the training. Acting is part of an Englishman's DNA. If you go into acting there, you are expected to study and act in the classics.

It gives these guys a gravatis that is lacking in young North American actors.

Anyway, I will keep watching Sleepy Hollow, it could be a fun ride, or it could come off the rails. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Check out my board on Pinterest HERE to see a few of the British and Britsh Commonwealth actors worth crushing on.

Cheers, have a good weekend~

  1. I also checked out Sleepy Hollow without any real expectations, but as soon as Tom Mison opened his mouth, I was hooked! I'll also be checking out new episodes. I hope it doesn't go off the rails. I like the rather interesting mix of history, police procedural, paranormal and, of course, sexy Brit! :)

    1. Diana, I know. His voice! I also like the mash-up, this show could be a lot of fun, I hope so. Its by the creators of Fringe (which I liked) So here's hoping! Thanks for commenting!

    1. Sherri, So glad you agree! Brits are hot, its the accent, their presence, most of them are rugged and NOT pretty boys. Real guys, sexy and talented. Bring them on!! Thanks for commenting!
