Happy Birthday to My Hero~

So who am I talking about? My hubs.

No, this is not him. The coloring is somewhat similar. He is very private and I would never post a pic of him.

But I want to take a moment and give a happy birthday shout out to one of the men in my life who has been a constant support and source of inspiration in my writing.

Everyone of my heroes has a little piece of the hubs in him. I won't say which parts *wink*

I have been with this man since our very early twenties. He is a school teacher. To me, that qualifies him for hero status right there.

When we were first married, we lived far away from our hometown in Nova Scotia, Canada.
We both worked in the same school, I was a clerical teacher-aide (back before computers really took hold, I had an IBM Selectric typewriter as my weapon of choice!)

The hubs always kept his classroom door open, and many times I would stand outside the room and listen to him teach. He was, and still is, awe-inspiring. How wonderful to not only love the man, but admire and respect him as well? And he gives the same back to me.

I never would have submitted my first manuscript without his encouragement. I don't have beta readers. I have my hero. He patiently allows me to bounce plot bunnies off his head and read either parts or all of my manuscripts.  He offers suggestions. We collaborate. As I have become more insular in my writing, he is my main go-to person for a critique of characters and plots.

He listens patiently as I rail on about my books popping up on pirate sites, and my impatience for all things to do with publishing in general. He's talked me in off the ledge more than once.

Having this kind of support makes it all worthwhile. So happy birthday, my love. My hero.
